On April 27, 2025, the two project partners, the Upper Lusatian District Sports Association (Oberlausitzer Kreissportbund e.V.) and the KCT Nove Mesto pod Smrkem club, organized an International Hiking Day in the Euroregion, starting and finishing at the Olbersdorf Sports Center. The project's goal is to preserve the long-standing cross-border cooperation among hiking clubs in the Neisse-Nisa-Nysa Euroregion for future generations and to inspire young people to embrace cross-border collaboration. The hiking routes led across borders through the beautiful landscapes of the Zittau and Lusatian Mountains. Under the motto "Everyone at their own pace," hikers set off on their chosen routes of 8, 12, 22, 32, or 42 km. Young and old alike were out and about, enjoying the diverse natural and cultural attractions. To reach the finish line on time, the "long-distance" hikers sometimes had to adopt a more brisk pace. Hiking with friends, regardless of nationality, is a great experience; shared and passed-on experiences encourage others to visit our region again.
